Free Time To Do What

Over the past two months I have little to no time to really think about how my running as been going on a week-to-week bases. Cross-country season ending soon and my racing season ending at the same time. I will begin the all-important off-season workouts. I still plan on racing but the races will be limited and spread out.

First, I would like to make sure that I recognize the Mankato Marathon for an outstanding job. I have not run that many marathons in my life (4 and counting) but I have run a number of races from very low key to large ordeals. This was the first time that the Mankato marathon was done and I feel that they did a great job. They limited the size to an amount that was not overwhelming for them and the races which is the right way to do it. This race will become a staple in my race schedule and plan to run every year.

Second, in the last month and half I was able to set two PR’s in a trail 10miler (1:03) and at the Mankato Marathon (3:04:02). This was a great end to the year being sidelined for much of the beginning of the year, including a very crappy summer racing year. But the summer miles paid off and end result is the important thing.

Over the next coming months I plan to recover and run a race in November (yes a turkey trot) then maybe a half marathon in January. I need to see if I can PR in the half since my first half split in the marathon was a PR by 2+ minuets. I do not count the split as a PR but it should be an indicator for a potential low number in that race. Who would not want to start the new year with a new PR.
