That was Worth the Wait.

The week started out looking like things were not going to end the way they did. The cross-country team ran an 9 miler the day after my 20 miler. Then we ran a number of intervals that made me extra sore because well I can’t not run fast with them and take a day off. I made sure to do extra stretching and took it easy overall. Things were looking like I should be able to at least be in the top 3 of my age group for the weekend race.

All summer long, I have been running what I consider sub par for me in the 5k. Today was the Stiftungsfest 5k in Norwood Young America. Last year I was second and ran very well. This year was the only difference was that instead of second place overall. I was first overall this year. In addition, this was the first time this year that I was able to run under 19:00 for the 5k since the Turkey trot in November. This was the second win since I started running road races. So this was cool.

I hope that I can take this positive and use it in the future. And may be the all the summer miles did pay off.
